つくばエキスポセンーで見つけた放射線を目で確認できる自然放射線の可視化モデルです。
もちろん自然放射線は目にも見えず、ニオイもありません。
これを可視化したモデルです。

このボックスの中は冷やしたアルコール蒸気が含まれており、その中に放射線が飛び込んでくると、通り道にあるアルコール分子がぶつかって電子を弾き飛ばしてプラスの電気を­持つイオンになります。

そこにアルコール蒸気が集まってきて、放射線が通った跡が筋状の雲になって目で確認できる仕組みになっています。

「放射能」という名の「目に見えない危険」　　

放射能、放射線、放射性物質──。いずれも人間の肉眼では見ることはできない。そのため、われわれは現在、こうした「目に見えない危険」にさらされ、その不安と恐怖のなかにある。

そして、この姿の見えない危険の存在を知るには、放射線測定器に頼るほかないのが現状である。

色の変化で表示できるポータブルカメラ

そこで、株式会社東芝は、放射線量を色の変化で表示することで放射線を可視化（目に見えるように）するポータブルガンマカメラ装置を開発した。

放射線量の高低を 赤、黄色、緑、青で表示

ポータブルガンマカメラは、放射線センサーで測定したガンマ線とビデオカメラで撮影した映像を信号処理装置で重ね合わせることで、放射線の量を色の違いで表示する。

放射線量が高い場所を赤く、低くなるにつれて黄色、緑、青と色を変えて表示し、肉眼では見えない放射線を色で識別することができる。

短時間でホットスポットを特定

地域によって放射線量は均一ではなく、局地的に放射線量が高い「ホットスポット」が存在することはすでに知られている。現在は、道路や公園、家屋などの放射線量は放射線測定器で計測するのが一般的だが、ホットスポットを特定するには時間がかかっていた。

ポータブルガンマカメラは、放射線量の高低を画面上に色の変化で示すと同時に、短時間で広範囲を計測することができるので、ホットスポットの特定が容易になり、除染作業の効率化を図ることができる。そして、除染後に再度、撮影することによって、放射線量が低下したことを確認することができる。

福島第一原発で使用されたカメラの性能を向上

このポータブルガンマカメラは、東京電力福島第一原発の建屋内の調査のために使用された同社製ガンマカメラの性能を向上させたもので、感度・測定性能が30倍以上に高められている。これによって、0.1μSv/h（1mSv/年）という、低い線量率におけるホットスポットを特定することができるようになった。

約50%の軽量化を実現し、重量は9.8kg

さらに、周囲からの放射線を遮蔽しながら放射線映像を取得するための遮蔽体設計の最適化や電子回路のコンパクト化によって、約50%の軽量化を実現。重量は9.8kgで持ち運びが可能なので、屋内外を問わず様々な場所で利用できる。

なお、このポータブルガンマカメラ装置は12月中に福島市と共同で実証実験を行なうとともに、2012年初頭から中央官庁や地方自治体などに提案活動を開始する。

漁船は。漁師の財産であり、命です。

漁業従事者の発想を変えて、漁業活動の日常に於いて、漁船を漁港の船だまりに係留させないで、常に津波災害に対応して、防災・防備することができるような高台を選定し、漁船駐留所（人口池。広場。人工的貯留所）を設置して、漁港に、漁船を高速で昇降移動させて送りだす装置の開発をすべきである。

漁船昇降装置の周辺を防波堤で守り、日常において、この漁船貯留所と魚市場の通行は車両ですれば良い。魚市場も高台に設ければ津波対策になる。魚市場で必要な海水は、海岸からポンプアップすれば良い。

日常の安全安心な漁業水産活動の維持は、市民に安心と安全をもたらすことになる。

3.11東北大地震の災害復旧の政策において、漁港の傍らに、公共的な施策で、このような設備を構築して、地方の漁村漁業経営を安定させれば、地方水産漁村の街が栄えてくるはずである。

従来の漁港の設計・立地計画の発想・思想を３．１１東日本大震災の津波災害に対応した検討をして、水産漁港漁村の経済活動の機能構造を根底的に検討し、漁港整備事業に係る関連研究開発を促進させて変革促進・推進させる必要がある。

追記：

その漁港施設の漁業権者に洋上風力発電の運営権利権を付加させて、上記の運営経費を賄うようにすれば可能である。

さらに、海水揚水発電ダムと洋上風力発電を組み合わせれば、新しいエネルギー対策になり、地方集落の経済力もそこから生み出すことができるようになる。

原子力発電を廃止して、海水揚水発電ダムに変換すれば、海水揚水発電ダムの水面を利用して、上記の漁船貯留所を設置すれば、十分な漁村の経済活動を展開することもできる。

海水揚水発電ダム建設は、公共事業として、建設後の運営管理経営は地域経済活動機関に付加すれば、地域経済活動が新しく展開されるようになる。

海水揚水発電ダムの貯留海水は、沿岸の洋上風力発電の電力で、ポンプアップすれば良い。

付近の沿岸の洋上風力発電を拡大展開できれば、その売電で、経済的活動が拡大できるようになる。

海水揚水発電ダムは、日常の電力最大消費時間帯に売電すれば、電力使用において、合理的な運営ができる。

民間マリナー経営機関に参加投資させて、マリナーの遊漁船も、海水揚水発電ダムに貯留できるようにすることも可能である。

このような、発想と計画案が、漁業従事者、漁業組合や地方の水産漁港管理の自治体から、提案されて、国家行政の重要な国策行政として、立案計画検討・政策実地がなされるような社会構造にならなければならない。

中央省庁の上位下達な官僚行政や政治政策においては、全く、このような地方の社会経済活動を発展・促進させるための有効な機能や立案設計等の政策的運営思想が生み出されていない。

You can see the 'acrobat' guy STANDING on the front of the boat! Watch what he does next....

 

Yes, you are seeing that correctly...he JUMPS into the air, about 8 to 10 feet, then LANDS back on the boat!!! OMFG!
What happens if he misses and lands in the water...or on the people?!? The other interesting thing is this ride flies off the tracks
and lands in the Tokyo Bay. The acrobat guy then rows the boat back to shore to the unload platform!
One of the strangest rides we've seen on this trip!

A Drop in the Ocean

The fairground's interaction with the world of water spans all areas - from water-themed shows, water-themed rides, through to rides splashing down into natural water features. A logical starting point would be the ambitious 'Water Chutes' built for exhibitions at the turn of the 20th century. These rides worked with a boat-style passenger device hoisted up an inclined track and then released and guided down the track with the aid of braking and steering assistant. The passengers were plunged into a large pool of water and the boat left to float before being re-hoisted up the incline. After this novelty took hold at the large exhibitions various models were installed around the UK at parks such as Blackpool, Southport and Southend-on-Sea, with smaller incarnations still working at Hull's East End Park, Wicksteed Park and Scarborough's North Bay.

Southport's early amusements included a Water Chute.
 

Another classic ride on Weston-Super-Mare's Birnbeck Pier.



Kursaal's ride survived many decades.

A lively scene on the famous water chutes on Bergen Beach at Coney Island. This is the original Shoot-the-Chutes designed and built by Captain Boyton. He was inspired, by the Midway attractions at Chicago's Columbian Exposition of 1893. Boyton surrounded his ''King of All Amusements'' with other rides on Coney Island and in 1895 opened Sea Lion Park, the worlds first enclosed outdoor amusement park, followed by George C. Tilyou and Steeplechase Park in 1897. Steeplechase has become the template for amusements parks since. Boyton would eventually lease his park to Fred Thompson and Elmer Dundy who would replace everything except for the Shoot-the-Chutes. They opened Luna Park on May 16, 1903 and quickly became one of the most successful amusement playgrounds that Coney Island would have. -TR

Japan's Tsunami: Caught on Camera captures the impact of the earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan in March 2011, using amateur footage filmed by those caught up in the disaster.

Featuring never-before-seen footage, the programme gives accounts from eyewitnesses, amateur photographers and video enthusiasts, whose initial desire to record the tsunami was quickly overtaken by the cataclysmic events that unfolded in front of them.

But they kept on filming, many while only narrowly escaping with their lives.

The eyewitness film captures some apocalyptic images of the wave's destructive power: Takayuki Saijo only just made it up a hill in time to see the town of Kamaishi destroyed beneath him; Kenichi Murakami had to run for his life, climbing a high-school fire escape while filming the carnage below; and Yu Muroga narrowly escaped death as his car (with its on-board camera) was swept away in the torrential current and then sank.

Beyond the immediate horror of the tsunami, the film, made seven months after the event, also grapples with the aftermath: the loss, uncertainty and long-term trauma faced by individuals and towns struggling to come to terms with whether they can or should rebuild their shattered communities

Japan's Tsunami: How It Happened investigates the science behind the earthquake and tsunami. The programme follows Professor of Geological Sciences Roger Bilham - who arrived in Japan days after the earthquake struck - as he sets off to view the devastation from the air.

The programme provides the science and analysis to explain why this happened where it did, and why it was so devastating, hearing from the scientists at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre in Hawaii who tracked the deadly wave as it raced across the pacific, and scientists at the Tsunami research facility in Oregon who study the dynamics of earthquake-generated Tsunamis.
